Try Again

I did not know that love could be

A prison appearing to be free.

The passions that I thrived upon

Would leave their marks and then be gone.

Why have I searched so deep and wide

And why has love so often lied?

Ahh, but the truth lies clouded still

Who can refrain from such a thrill.

The deepened breath, the thickened flow

As from within a heat that glows.

The flesh becomes alive, yet numb

An ache that beats the heart to drum.

The eyes expand with mellow gaze

The world outside floats into haze.
